Anand Mohan Ramaswamy’s life has been a series of triumphs followed by significant challenges. After working at TELCO for 20 years, he faced a major setback in 1998 when poor health led to the loss of his job. Despite this, he remained committed to his family.
Anand has one daughter, and he dedicated all his savings to her marriage. When his wife fell ill, the financial strain became overwhelming. Due to a lack of resources to support her treatment, she went to live with her parents. This left Anand to navigate life on his own.
"Everyone here has become like family, and I feel very happy living here. All the necessary comforts and facilities are available."

For 18 years, Anand survived by doing various private jobs, showing immense grit and determination. However, living alone since 2004 took its toll. Seven years ago, he found a new home at the Ashirwad Old Age Home, part of the FURIDA network.
At Ashirwad, Anand found the support system he desperately needed. "Everyone here is very kind," he says. The transition from a life of isolation to one of community has been transformative for him. He no longer has to face life's challenges alone.
Care and Connection
Anand appreciates the regular medical check-ups provided by visiting doctors and the overall facilities that ensure his well-being. But more than the physical comforts, it’s the sense of family that he values most. "Everyone here has become like family," he emphasizes.
